Buying a suitable roof tent for a Ford Ranger

With the right roof tent, you can easily convert your Ford Ranger into a camper. Both folding tents and hardshell tents are suitable as roof tents for the Ford Ranger or Ford Ranger Raptor, as long as Ford's specified roof load is observed.

Ford Ranger Roof Load

The permitted roof load for the Ford Ranger, as specified by the vehicle manufacturer, is 80 kg. This means that all roof tents weighing less than 80 kg are generally suitable. This applies to our hard-shell tent and to the folding tents in sizes 120 to 165 cm. Only the 220 cm folding tent weighs over 90 kg and is therefore not suitable for the Ford Ranger.
